"Did They Say That?" "Yes, They Did!"

This presentation explicates both covert and overt challenges in supervision evidenced by inherent power differentials, hierarchical communication dynamics, and perpetuation of long-sanctioned oppressive practices in the workplace. Given the magnitude of language in everyday situations, we explore various forms of microaggressions and model various methods for addressing, confronting, and dismantling these harmful statements through awareness building, teachable moments, allyship, and forgiveness.
